A combination of in-depth intensive educational sessions and a series of broader discussions providing relevant and timely information for organic growers headline the agenda of the second annual Organic Grower Summit this coming December 12-13 in Monterey, CA.
The Organic Grower Summit (OGS), hosted by the Organic Produce Network (OPN) and California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF), will feature a comprehensive educational program that includes a range of topics designed to inform and engage organic growers, farmers, producers, and their service and supply chain partners. Farm soil management, advances in agricultural technology, healthy soil practices, investing in organic farming future and organic cannabis are among topics to be covered by organic industry leaders at OGS.
With planning underway for OGS--- the only event specifically designed to bring organic fresh food producers and their service and supply chain partners together for information, education, and networking opportunities--- event organizers are capitalizing on the success of last year’s inaugural event held in the nation’s cradle of organic fresh food production, California’s central coast.
“Following the overwhelming success of last year’s OGS, we are thrilled to again work with OPN in providing the organic growing community with up-to-date resources, education and information to support the continued success of organic producers in California and across the globe,” said Cathy Calfo, CCOF executive director/CEO. “From seed to soil to harvest, our goal is to present the most relevant information on the most important subjects and issues facing organic production.”

Among the two-and-a-half hour long intensive educational sessions are overviews of healthy organic soil practices, organic cannabis and investing opportunities in organic farming’s future. Additional educational sessions will spotlight technology, digging into plant health, organic beverages and safeguarding the organic brand.
Over 50 companies have already already committed to exhibiting at OGS. Exhibitors include soil amendment, bio-pesticide, seed, packaging, food safety, ag technology, and equipment manufacturers who will be connecting with organic field production staff, supply chain managers, pest management advisors, and food safety experts.
“The organic community truly sees the benefit of an event connecting organic growers and farmers with those in the supply and service chain. As organic continues to grow, the need for expanded education and information is paramount to its continued success,” Tonya Antle, co-founder of the Organic Produce Network said. “Working together with CCOF, OGS is designed to bring all components of the trade together under one roof to exchange ideas and information as it relates to organic production.”
OGS will be held December 12-13, at the Monterey Conference Center in Monterey, California. Exhibitor registration is now open. General registration to attend the event is slated to open in July, with more details of the educational program, including session topics and speakers, to be released in the coming weeks.
