Westbridge Expecting California Approval for DART Fungicide EC in Early 2022

When Westbridge Agricultural Products was incorporated in 1982, the goal was to develop, manufacture, and deliver effective plant nutrients, biopesticides, and specialty inputs for both organic and conventional farming to help growers solve production problems.

Today, Westbridge has one of the most complete product lines for organic growers.

“We produce fertilizers, adjuvants, and organic pesticides—including an herbicide, fungicide, and insecticide,” said Larry Parker, director of research and development for the Vista, CA-based company. “We supply products that help growers grow high-quality produce with better shelf life, and we use independent laboratory testing to ensure that our products are free of pesticide residues and meet certified organic product standards.”

Westbridge is continually looking to produce and bring to market new products that will help growers maximize crop production and increase yield, including biological products that fit well into IPM programs to reduce pesticide resistance issues.

With that in mind, the company has expanded its pesticide line in recent years. DART Fungicide EC is a newer product that has received EPA approval, and with California approval is expected in early 2022.

“DART has demonstrated excellent control on various fungal diseases in tree crops and berries,” Parker said. “It is a broad spectrum contact fungicide for use on a variety of fruit and vegetable crops to suppress and control disease. It is an emulsifiable concentrate that controls diseases such as powdery mildew, downy mildew, Botryosphaeria, Alternaria, mummy berry, Phomopsis, anthracnose, and apple and pear scab.”

The Westbridge product line includes proprietary formulations based primarily on microbial fermentations and plant extracts, micronutrient blends of primary and complexed secondary nutrients, natural humates, and other organically approved products designed to improve crop quality and yield.

For instance, Westbridge products improve nutrient and water uptake and help to maintain natural soil fertility by enhancing the balance of natural microorganisms in the soil. They are without toxic residues and don’t contain excess nitrogen or phosphorus, all of which contribute to groundwater contamination. They are also safe for bees and other beneficial insects.
