NatureFresh Farms, based in Leamington, ON, Canada, and Delta, OH, has been steadily increasing its organic greenhouse acreage as a response to consumer demand for organic vegetables. Noting that consumers today are becoming more food-conscious and aware of how and where their food is grown, the company expanded its organic greenhouse space from 9 to 15 acres by the end of 2017.
Sandi Kronick is the CEO of Happy Dirt, a farmer-and-staff-owned produce distributor based in Durham, North Carolina. Happy Dirt ships an average of 150 pallets of produce per week, the vast majority of which is organic.
It has long been an organic produce industry axiom that its most loyal consumers are more inclined to be environmentally conscience, and thus plastic packaging is not a good look. That viewpoint has apparently succumbed to fears over the new coronavirus, COVID-19.
BioWorks, a Victor, NY-based company that provides growers with biological control and plant nutrition products, began 26 years ago when the company licensed a patented technology from Cornell University.
