The Organic Produce Network Turns 1!

A Word from Co-Founders Matt and Tonya:

Today’s issue of OPN Connect marks the one-year anniversary of the Organic Produce Network and our weekly newsletter.

Campos Borquez October 2

When we started OPN, our objective was to become the voice and go-to resource for all things related to organic fresh produce. We set a goal to inform and educate our readers through a strong digital presence with an emphasis on original content, complimented with engaging live events which bring together the organic fresh food community.

On this first year anniversary, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to our sponsors and advertisers.   Simply stated, we couldn’t do it without your ongoing support for OPN and OPN Connect.

Each week with OPN Connect we seek to inform, educate and provide you with engaging original content on the people, companies and issues in the world of organic fresh produce. We strive to bring the industry closer to the key issues that organic growers, retailers and allied service suppliers face on a daily basis. We have talked with innovative and inspiring industry leaders through our weekly “In Their Words” segment and brought varying opinions and commentary on the important challenges and opportunities facing our industry.

Black Earth Humic October

The response to OPN Connect has been overwhelming. Today, OPN Connect has grown to over 13,000 subscribers throughout North America and the globe-----and become a trusted resource for the organic fresh produce community.

In addition to our weekly newsletter, we are proud of two events connecting the organic produce industry, providing a platform to exchange ideas and information about the current state of organic fresh produce and a look at what the future holds.

This coming July, the third annual Organic Produce Summit will again bring together growers, shippers and processors, with those on the retail, wholesaler and distribution side of the multi-billion dollar organic fresh produce industry.  This intimate and energetic event has sold out the past two years and we are excited for the largest OPS yet this July in Monterey.

Chelan Fresh October

Our new event held this past December,  The Organic Grower Summit,--co-produced by CCOF--brought together over organic 800 growers, farmers, service  and supply chain partners for two days of information, education networking opportunities.  This coming year we seek to make OGS bigger and better, extending the event to those in other areas of the growing organic marketplace.

Heliae October

As we look to the future, we understand change is necessary as our industry grows and moves forward.

This year we will be communicating the need of the organic industry to focus on protecting organic integrity through local, state and federal stakeholders.  More importantly, we will be actively discussing the need of a greater presence and stronger voice from organic fresh fruit and vegetable growers in the Western part of the US.

One change you will notice as we enter our second year of OPN Connect is a crisper and more vibrant look to our weekly newsletter.  Going forward we will be making other modifications to OPN Connect, continuing to bring you the most original, current and relevant information on organic fresh produce available.   And, in the coming months look for new updates on our website www.organicproducenetwork.com.

NatureSafe October

We sincerely look forward to being a valuable resource for the organic fresh produce community and thank you for making OPN and OPN Connect a part of your business.
