Pure Flavor Sees Rise in Demand for Organic Snacking Products

Pure Flavor is a family of greenhouse vegetable growers, with greenhouses strategically located throughout North America, who share a commitment to put quality, flavor, and customers first by providing “A Life of Pure Flavor” to communities everywhere.

The Leamington, Ontario-based company has some big things happening and is looking forward to its exciting developments.

“We continue to expand our acreage to meet the surging demand from our retail and foodservice partners and look forward to highlighting a number of our consistent top-selling items, like our lineup of organic snacking vegetables,” said Chris Veillon, chief marketing officer for Pure Flavor.

Since the pandemic began, the company has noticed that people have been thinking much more carefully about how their diets impact their health.

“It hasn’t always been easy for consumers to find fresh, healthy, and organic snacks that they can take on the go, but that perception has changed drastically in the past year,” Veillon said. “By choosing convenient snacking options that are grown with care in a greenhouse and are USDA certified organic, consumers can take their health into their own hands.”

In that regard, Pure Flavor is promoting its extensive line of organic snacking products like Organic Juno Bites Red Group Tomatoes, Sangria Medley Tomatoes, and Organic Mini Cucumbers to help support busy parents who want to send their kids to school with healthy options.

“All our organic products, including Pure Flavor organic snacking veggies, are consumer favorites that people seek out time and time again on produce aisle shelves,” Veillon said. “With our organics program, we’re dedicated to bringing consumers a consistent supply of their favorite vegetables year-round.”

Consumer demand for more convenient fresh organic snacking options has continued to grow and doesn’t show any signs of slowing down.

“We often hear directly from consumers who reach out just to let us know how happy they are to find a product like our Organic Aurora Bites Mini Sweet Peppers that they can buy for their kids or grandchildren year-round,” Veillon said.

Pure Flavor conducted extensive research into consumers’ organic consumption habits during the #LoveForFresh campaign in late 2020.

“We surveyed thousands of people across North America, so we could understand specifically why people prefer organic, which products they love the most, how they enjoy organic food, and other factors that influence their purchase,” Veillon said. “For example, for those who responded to the organics section of the survey we conducted, we found that 76 percent of people choose to snack on organic vegetables because of the perceived health benefits, followed by better taste, and environmental reasons.”

The company also learned that 74 percent of those surveyed purchase organic produce at least once a week to enjoy as a snack, while 80 percent of respondents replied that they were “likely” or “very likely” to snack on prepackaged organic tomatoes, mini peppers, or mini cucumbers.

“When it comes to fresh snacks, there are two criteria that consumers are always looking for: convenience and consistency,” Veillon said. “Our organic snacking veggies are bite-sized for enjoying on the go, in a school lunch, or at home on a cheese and cracker platter. They come in conveniently sized resealable packs that make it easy for busy parents to grab a handful at the last minute as the family is rushing out the door.”

Pure Flavor's consistent quality comes from the company’s high-tech greenhouses, which allow it to grow 365 days a year in highly controlled conditions.

“Our growers are able to control every aspect of their craft, from humidity to temperature to irrigation, lighting, nutrients, and so much more,” Veillon said. “The Pure Flavor organic vegetables you taste in January are identical to the ones you taste in July.”

Pure Flavor promotes its organics program with an omnichannel content strategy that delivers interesting and engaging digital content to its audiences across North America, directing them to its organics landing page to learn more about the company's products.

“On all our social media channels, in our newsletters, and on our website, you’ll find a great variety of content that shows all the ways consumers can enjoy these products,” Veillon said. “That includes delicious all-organic recipes and helpful blogs about topics like sustainability and mindful eating.”
