As inflation and rising costs have impacted organic sales over the past year, producers and retailers are seeking new ways and opportunities to grow sales. The Shifting Organic Assortment at Retail will be the subject of the fifth-announced educational session at Organic Produce Summit 2023, featuring an exclusive analysis of organic fresh produce sales through the first half of this year, an examination of how consumer purchasing behavior is changing, and an exploration of opportunities to drive sales in an inflationary environment.
After a prolonged gap, organic table grapes should hit the market again in late May, and promotable supplies from both California’s Coachella Valley and Mexico’s Sonoran Desert will be available in June.
Jennie Coleman is President of Equifruit, a Montreal-based importer and marketer of organic and conventional Fairtrade bananas. OPN recently caught up with Jennie to learn about her background, Equifruit’s mission, the company’s relationships with growers, and more.
Founded in 2012 by Cathy Scratch, Feed Earth Now is the parent company of Terreplenish, a liquid microbial soil amendment created from green waste. Terreplenish’s benefits include improved plant quality and yields; enhanced soil microbe populations; increased nitrogen availability; pest and disease prevention; and better soil water absorption and retention.
