MOM's Opens New England Store, State of Organic Produce 2022, Potato Update, Eco Farms, Market News, and More...
The performance of individual organic produce categories ranged widely last year, according to the State of Organic Produce 2022, a report released today by Organic Produce Network.
The 2022/23 storage crop of all potatoes is down as much as 5 percent from the previous season, causing packers to limit shipments in an attempt to stretch supplies until the new crop of potatoes starts being dug in late spring. This is true across the board for most storage potatoes but is being felt more acutely in the organic russet potato sector.
Earlier this month, Rockville, MD-based MOM’s Organic Market opened its first location in New England and its 23rd store overall. "We have had a goal to work our way up into the Boston regional market for many years, and with the new store opening in Burlington, MA, we are extremely excited to engage with a new community of customers," said MOM's Produce Director Chris Miller.
Eco Farms, a grower-packer-shipper of avocados, organic citrus, and organic dragon fruit, has recently expanded its operational capacity and continues to increase its market presence throughout the US and Canada.
