Non-GMO Project Co-Creator Buys into Organic Certification
Global ID Group, Inc., a certification, testing and consulting services firm, said it has acquired Bioagricert Srl, a global organic certification agency based in Bologna, Italy. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.Fairfield, Iowa-based Global ID is owned by private equity firm Paine Schwartz Partners, LLC, which acquired the company from private investment firm Inverness Graham in September 2016.

Four Seasons Produce has announced the retirements of two long-time produce industry veterans, Wendell Hahn and Ray Taglialatela, planned for the end of December 2017.

Florida Produce Giant Enters Organic Arena
Major produce supplier J&J Produce Inc. dba J&J Family of Farms has entered the organic market with a new brand called Farmganic.
The Loxahatchee, Fla.-based company grows cucumbers, bell peppers, squash, tomatoes and eggplant on more than 14,000 acres of farmland and operates packing and cooling facilities in Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, Arizona and Mexico.

Gladstone Land Acquires Organic Almond Orchard and Expands Facility
Organics are once again growing in Gladstone Land Corporation’s portfolio of farmland with the addition of a new organic almond orchard in California for approximately $5.9 million. The orchard will now be Gladstone Land’s under a 20-year, triple-net sale-leaseback agreement that consists of a fixed cash rent, plus a variable rent component based on the annual gross crop revenues earned on the property.
