Earth Source, the import sister company of Ephrata, PA-based Four Seasons Produce, started its organic lime program more than five years ago. “We created the program based on customer demand as well as growers looking to expand into the organic space,” says Earth Source Buyer Cassidy Baker, noting that demand has continued to increase over the years.
A trio of sessions focused on the ever-changing landscape of ag technology have been announced as part of the educational program for the upcoming Organic Grower Summit 2022 presented by Western Growers and OPN, slated for November 30–December 1 in Monterey, CA.
On Tuesday, environmental nonprofit Friends of the Earth released its annual Bee-Friendly Retailer Scorecard, and of the 25 US grocery retailers it evaluated, Giant Eagle and Walmart scored the highest.
Because of a spring frost that decimated the bloom on its pomegranate trees, Valliwide Marketing only has about 25 percent of its normal crop this fall. While other organic pomegranate growers fared a bit better, it appears that this fall’s crop will be substantially lighter than usual, with limited or no promotional opportunities.
