Wish Farms Announces “Misty Organics”

Wish Farms, the year-round grower-marketer of berries is pleased to announce a new, state-of-the-art organic blueberry farm located in Alturas, Florida.

Named for Wish Farms’ mascot, Misty the Garden Pixie, the project began as an idea in 2014. It represents a joint-venture that includes three ag veterans at Wish Farms: Gary Wishnatzki, J.C. Clinard and Teddy Koukoulis.

OFRF Board Approves New President

Longtime board member and organic farmer Jeremy Barker Plotkin, was approved by unanimous vote to serve as OFRF’s Board President.
 
Jeremy has been a vegetable farmer for 19 years. After earning his M.S. in Plant and Soil Sciences from the University of Maine, he founded Simple Gifts Farm at the New England Small Farm Institute in Belchertown in 1999.

Climate Project Soars Past Goal

With less than two weeks away from Climate Day 2018, the anniversary of the launch of the Climate Collaborative, the group said Thursday its first-year goal to sign up 100 companies committed to climate action has been surpassed by 70 percent.

Row 7 to Sell Organic Seeds

Starting Tuesday, March 6, Row 7 will sell organic seeds, developed in the United States, on its website, row7seeds.com. At first, it will sell seeds for the Badger Flame; three varieties of squash (including one that announces its ripeness on the vine by changing from dark green to a rusty orange); a small, creamy potato; a pleasingly bitter cucumber; and a floral-tasting habanero pepper without even a pinprick of heat.
