When Miller Chemical and Fertilizer originally started in 1937, the Baltimore-based company was strictly a pesticide and farm fertilizer manufacturer.
“From the start, our commitment has always been to provide our customers the best quality inputs they need to both grow and maintain their crops,” said Yusif Jaouni, global product training manager for the company. “Since that time, we have expanded into the adjuvant and biostimulant category of products as well.”

In 2019, the J.M. Huber Corporation acquired Miller Chemical and Fertilizer. With this integration into the Huber family of companies, there has been a significant investment into Miller's R&D capabilities.

“With this invigoration of the business, we are excited to further expand our pipeline of future innovations,” Jaouni said.
Miller’s portfolio consists of a full line of adjuvants, biostimulants, and crop production aids as well as crop protection, macronutrient, and micronutrient solutions for growers around the world. Specific to the organic industry, the Miller portfolio offers adjuvants and biostimulants.
“Among these offerings includes our legacy Nu-Film P adjuvant that is a superior deposition, sticker, and extender with non-ionic properties formulated using our proprietary Pinolene terpene polymer technology,” said Austin Marsteller, product manager. “Nu-Film P has been proven over many years of data to be nontoxic to honeybees.”

Miller’s other organic offerings include biostimulants such as C.F.O. soil and fertilizer additive as well as a mix of other products that are OMRI Listed or state-approved for use by organic growers.
“In the last two years, we have invested heavily in the business overall,” Jaouni said. “We have expanded our marketing capabilities and refined our focus area to be primarily fruits, nuts, and vegetables. With this investment, as well as a full refresh of our brand, our team has worked hard to bring our tried-and-true products back to the forefront of the organic marketplace.”
The company advocates for brands like the Nu-Film P or Sustain adjuvants that growers have been using for years but also continues to look to solve the organic grower challenges of tomorrow.

“Like others in the industry and even those around the world, the challenges we face center around two primary factors—the weather and the overall supply chain,” Marsteller said. “As it has been since the advent of agriculture, we are always at the mercy of mother nature. La Niña has led to unique weather patterns causing excessive moisture in some areas and devastating droughts in others.”

Add to that the lingering effects of the COVID-19 virus on the supply chain, and Miller’s incredibly talented team has been forced to get even more creative and think much further into the future than ever before.
“Taking all these challenges into consideration has been at the forefront of our team priorities to ensure that our growers have the products they need when they need them most,” Marsteller said.
While not a new product, Marsteller points to Miller's C.F.O. fertilizer and soil additive as uniquely suited to solve some of the pain points faced by growers today.
“C.F.O. soil and fertilizer additive is a blend of carboxylic acids specially designed to release tied up nutrients in the soil such as phosphorus, reduce salinity stress by helping to leach salts out of the root zone, and improve overall soil health by serving as a carbon source for beneficial soil microbes,” Jaouni said.

Market data has shown a steady yet significant increase in consumer consumption of not just produce but organic produce options.
“With awareness and preference growing for this option in agriculture, we are excited to be able to deliver unique solutions to growers in this segment,” Jaouni said. “We offer a simple promise—to bring our customers expertise and support for exceptional crop production.”
The Miller brand of products has been a mainstay in the specialty crop markets for years. With that experience comes an appreciation for the industry as well as years of expertise within it, solving challenges daily.
