Revol Greens Introduces Value-Added Organic Salad Kits


The national growth strategy for Revol Greens, the largest greenhouse lettuce producer in the US, continues to germinate with the inaugural planting at its recently completed Tehachapi, CA-based greenhouse.

In mid-September, the first harvest of a wide variety of organic baby leaf and head lettuce followed as part of the initial phase of Revol Greens’ 64-acre greenhouse.

“The brand’s new West Coast presence will service retailers and restaurants throughout the region,” said Tom Thompson, chief revenue officer at the company, which has locations in Minnesota, California, and soon Texas.

Amid a historic drought in California, where 80 percent of the state’s water is used for agriculture, Revol Greens will leverage a sustainable and controlled growing environment that requires just one pint of water per container of greens compared to 12 gallons per container in the field—the annual equivalent of over 300 million gallons of water saved.

One of Revol Greens' most significant innovations is its proprietary Plant-Fed Organic nutrient source, which led to the creation of the first USDA certified organic lettuce line that does not use any animal byproducts in its fertilizer.

“Meeting consumer demand for more fresh and convenient meal options, Revol Greens’ premium organic salad kits include four custom-curated salad varieties boasting popular and on-trend flavors paired with a mix of high-quality ingredients and dressings,” Thompson said. “Each of Revol Greens’ organic greenhouse-grown salad kits contain two servings and range between 160 and 200 calories per serving.”

The new organic salad kits hit store shelves in October with a suggested retail price of $4.99.

The organic greenhouse-grown salad kit flavors include:

  • Organic Southwest Baja, which is comprised of crisp baby green leaf, romaine lettuce, shredded Monterey jack cheese, tri-color tortilla strips, and sweet dried corn with a spicy Southwest dressing;
  • Organic (Green) House Caesar, which offers crunchy green leaf, romaine lettuce, arugula, shredded sharp parmesan cheese, and crispy garlic parmesan croutons with Caesar dressing;
  • Organic Sesame Ginger Fusion, which features a spring mix, green cabbage, shredded carrots, honey sesame sticks, and crunchy sliced almonds with a tangy ginger carrot vinaigrette; and
  • Organic Sweet Poppy Kale Blend, which boasts sweet and tender baby kale and butter lettuce, sliced radicchio, crunchy sliced almonds, and sweet dried cranberries with a lemon poppy seed dressing.

Focused on food safety, all of Revol Greens’ lettuce varieties follow the company’s proprietary Grown Clean and Green process in an animal- and pest-free environment that is also free of any pesticides, herbicides, or other chemicals.
