 Green Beans

Organic Green Beans from Mexico are experiencing strong supplies in late March. With Fair Trade product available at a great price point and excellent quality, now is the perfect time to expand displays, highlight Fair Trade, and add pre-packaged bags to move extra product. Florida product also has good availability at a slightly higher price with stellar quality.

 Tomatoes

Organic Beefsteak and Cluster Tomato prices will be steady and are set to start coming off in early April as Canadian spring harvests will become much stronger. Quality has been excellent and promotable opportunities should be plentiful in April. Organic Cherry Tomatoes On-the-Vine and Cocktail Tomatoes will also be available from Quebec. Organic Grape Tomato prices remain strong based on limited availability from Mexico and Florida. Organic Roma Tomatoes are tightening up some on limited supplies coming out of Mexico. Quality has been excellent.

 Cabbage

Organic Green and Red Cabbages continue to be in excellent supplies and prime quality from Florida. Organic Napa Cabbage will gap in supplies for the remainder of March, but Organic Savoy supplies are expected to remain steady.

Apples

The Organic Apple category will begin a bumpy ride as some varietals from Washington’s 2020 storage, like Gold Delicious and Opal, are expected to finish for the season by the end of the month. The first new crop of Organic Apple imports from the Southern Hemisphere are expected to begin the end of April or early May. Prices are expected to be lighter on imports this season thanks to an excellent growing season, and the fact that some Washington shippers will attempt to go year-round on a few varieties, like Fuji, Gala, and Pink Lady.

Asparagus

Organic Asparagus continues in peak season from Mexico, but with the early harvest slowing down, and demand on the rise, prices will perk up as we approach Easter. Quality remains outstanding.

Eggplant

Organic Eggplant from Florida is returning to stronger supplies. While pricing is elevated compared to Mexican product, quality is outstanding.

Brussels Sprouts

Organic Brussels Sprouts remain in peak supply and provide promotional opportunities to build large displays to encourage more sales. Both 25lb and 10lb Brussels Sprouts are at great price points.
