A pair of pioneers in the fresh organic produce community were honored by the Organic Trade Association last week. Israel Morales Sr., of JV Farms Organic was awarded the “Organic Farmer of the Year Award” and Lynn Coody, of Organic Agsystems Consulting, was honored with the “Growing the Organic Community Award.” Both accepted their awards surrounded by family and over 250 industry peers as part of OTA’s annual Leadership Awards
On Tuesday of this week, Rabobank, in partnership with ProducePay, held a webinar, “Organic Produce Premiums Under Pressure: North American Organic Produce Update” providing insights on the organic produce market based on a six-page report the company released last week.
At first glance, the three categories in the headline would appear to have nothing to tie them together, but in fact, fermentation is the common thread and Nicholasville, Kentucky-based Alltech company has an interest in all three.
It’s entirely possible to have a year-round organic mango program by piecing together information from multiple and highly variable regions.
