Albert Grimaldi's New Venture, Local Meets Organic, Anthony's Vineyard, Sales Analysis at OPS, and more…
Like clockwork, as spring approaches summer regional and local organic farms throughout the country start harvesting their crops and cutting into western sales.
While Bakersfield, CA-based Anthony Vineyards Inc., offers both conventional and organic table grapes to its customers, its commitment is on organics as it moves toward transitioning 100 percent of the company-owned acreage to that production method.
Albert Grimaldi spent almost 30 years in the produce buying department of C&S Wholesale Grocers Inc. While there, he helped build the department from the ground up and also launched its organic produce offerings. He recently retired from the wholesale distributor and took his expertise to Fru-Veg Marketing Inc., Miami, FL, an importer of fruits and vegetables from Central and South America but is also building a year-round domestic supply of its core items.
The Organic Produce Summit has announced its sixth educational session: Organic Sales and Consumer Purchasing Analysis. Leaders from the Organic Trade Association (OTA) and Produce Marketing Association (PMA) will present highlights from newly conducted research on what is driving organic fresh produce sales and how the industry can continue its upward trajectory in attracting new consumers to the category.
