Sage Fruit, a Yakima WA-based grower and shipper of Northwest tree fruit, continues to grow and innovate, and its prominence in the organic category started with a savvy decision made 20 years ago.
Karen Ross was recently reappointed Secretary of the California Department of Food and Agriculture by Governor Gavin Newsom. Secretary Ross has shown unmatched leadership in California’s agricultural issues, including environmental stewardship, climate change adaptation, and trade.
Over the past half-dozen years, production of organic artichokes has shifted a bit with the development of new varieties so that winter volume has increased. Leading the charge on that front has been Ocean Mist Farms, which developed a variety especially well-suited for production in the Coachella Valley.
Today’s organic shoppers are more mainstream and diverse than most contemporary stereotypes of pro-organic shoppers, according to a recent survey conducted by organic produce leader Earthbound Farm.
